We are proud to support multiple sports initiatives in local communities through the Nancy Tweddle Foundation.
As a long term sponsor of Rockafellas FC, a club who positively support young people to stay out of the prolific gang and drug related crimes associated with the Cape, we’re delighted to provide the latest update on their soccer successes!
Rockafellas Under16 Football Tournament
The Rockafellas FC Under16 team took part in what has been dubbed, ‘one of the hottest youth soccer events in Cape Town’. The annual Under16 ‘Tournament of Light’ stretched over September 8, 14 and 15 with the winning team receiving a trophy and winners medals.
Even a last moment change of venue couldn’t dampen the spirits as a great team effort saw the Rockafellas squad reach the quarter finals.
Under12 tournament finalists
In the recent Golden United Under12 tournament spanning 7-8 September, the Rockafellas team performed brilliantly, reaching the final.
24 teams entered the competition that saw Rockafellas pipped at the post 2-1 in the final to Khayelitsha’s Brothers FC.
Special commendation goes to Valesco Moss, who captained the side and ‘stole the show’ as he was named player of the tournament. He scored a goal in each of his five games on the way to the final and even saved two penalties in a penalty shootout!
Football play-off fun
Two local farming communities in Hayoma and Schuitdrift, participated in a knock-out soccer tournament last weekend.
The Game of Stars 2019 Vhembe District Play-offs saw multiple teams from the Provincial District of Limpopo compete for the coveted prize of R5,000, a trophy and the chance to go through to the October 2019 finals.
Both farm teams looked slick in their corporate branded kit and performed admirably in the Mark Fish Foundation tournament which saw Hayoma Farm unfortunately beaten in the semi-final. The Nancy Tweddle Foundation were only too pleased to provide Hayoma and Schuitdrift transportation on the day as well as refreshments and fabric bags.
