Where: South Africa
Who it supports: Girls and women
Supporting women and girls globally, the Nancy Tweddle Foundation launched a campaign in support of period poverty, a global issue affecting women who don’t have access to safe, hygienic sanitary products, and/or who are unable to manage their periods with dignity, sometimes due to community humiliation and vulnerability.
Up to 500 million women and girls are living each month in period poverty, will a poll finding that it has caused more than quarter of women to miss work or school.
How can you help? All you need is a spare 30 minutes, scrap cotton (an old towel or facecloth), a button or press stud, a needle and thread, pins, a good pair of scissors (a safety pin would be handy too).
