Adopt-a-Mission is a volunteer-run charity, supported by the Nancy Tweddle Foundation that provides food and assistance to underprivileged families in Brooklyn, South Africa.
This incredible charity continues to assist the local community and has proven to really make a difference. Adopt-a-Mission also helps local residents gain employment, encourages them to lead more sustainable lives in exchange for food parcels as well as raising the profile of rugby and football to keep children off the street.
Nancy Tweddle Foundation volunteers were delighted to attend an Adopt-a-Mission outreach day that provided food, fun and music for disadvantaged families.
Ricardo Kermis a senior coach for one of our supported sports initiatives, travelled from the Northern Cape to provide his motivational skills and musical fun to the community.
Another supported initiative sees Cloetesville High School in Stellenbosch send its 20 most promising young leaders on a football and leadership development camp in The Netherlands. The children are placed with host families who form part of a volunteer network.
Fun football tournament
We organised a fun football workshop and mini-tournament for the children of Hangberg, another marginalised community close to Hout Bay in Cape Town. After the match the children and hungry volunteers enjoyed well-earned hotdogs and juice.
A Nancy Tweddle Foundation team member said: ‘the children’s energy and love of the game made the day all the more rewarding.’
